Interior Project

Mr. and Mrs. Shaikh, residing in Saudi Arabia as NRIs, have returned to India with the intention of establishing their dream home, as they plan to settle in the country in the coming years. In their pursuit of interior designers along NIBM Road/Mohammed Wadi, they encountered several firms. Their main criterion was finding a company capable of managing the entire design and execution process, encompassing various civil works such as Italian marble flooring, a kitchen, and a TV unit in Italian marble. After exploring numerous interior designers in the NIBM Road/Mohammed Wadi area and visiting their actual project sites, they ultimately selected decorMyPlace as their interior partner for their dream home, categorizing the project under the ELITE PROJECT CATEGORY.

Having spent an extended period in Saudi Arabia, the Shaikh family developed a penchant for Middle Eastern designs and decors. They communicated their desire for a fusion of Middle Eastern designs with a modern outlook to the decorMyPlace team, who dedicated nearly a month to studying and comprehending these design preferences. Their observations included:

  • Ornate Designs: Middle Eastern interiors are characterized by intricate designs seen in elements like decorative tiles, carpet work, chandeliers, and wooden carvings.
  • Use of Colors: Bold and vibrant colors such as blues, greens, reds, and golds play a significant role in creating a lively atmosphere in Middle Eastern interiors.
  • Use of Upholstery: Fabrics like silk, velvet, and embroidered textiles are commonly used for draperies, cushions, and upholstery, adding richness and texture to the designed spaces.
  • Mosaic Patterns: Middle Eastern designs often feature intricate mosaic patterns, especially in tiles and wall decorations, inspired by ancient Islamic art.
  • Calligraphy: Arabic calligraphy is a popular element used for wall decoration and incorporated into decorative items like lamps and vases.
  • Courtyards and Fountains: Decorative courtyards and fountains are essential elements in traditional Middle Eastern interiors, contributing to a peaceful environment and helping with temperature control.

Designing the Shaikh family's home presented challenges, particularly during the COVID period, with a shortage of labor and interior materials. The intricate Middle Eastern flavor was brought out through extensive masonry work, including demolition and construction of walls, Italian flooring, utility and kitchen platforms, and plumbing. Specific design elements included GOLDEN PVD designer pieces for seating bases, a floor-to-ceiling partition between the living and dining areas, and a kitchen featuring undyed quartz surfaces, modern Hettich and BLUM hardware fittings, and imported acrylics for a luxurious appearance. Various essence lists were utilized to create bespoke pieces, such as the bedroom television unit and guest bedroom decor, with the inclusion of on-trend golden-hued wainscot designs.
